"Thank You" completes my day!
Yes! I love being appreciated maybe not everyday but at least once in a while. I have been thinking for quite sometime, I should say quite a few weeks on whether women are being appreciated and have a sense of accomplishment in whatever they do at home. If you are receiving such gratitude from your husband, kids, in-laws then feel lucky.
Seriously! At work if you see, people do not applaud for doing your work. You will be recognized for doing something extraordinary.
Have you given a thought on why have we ever been appreciated for what we do at home? As for as I see, we are brought up in a way to think it is our duty to do all the work, be it from cooking, taking care of kids, shopping, maintenance and what not. If a woman fails to any of these then she is considered as a not perfect homemaker. Being a woman, we are mended to believe that all the household works are under woman's responsibility. She can be yelled at if something goes wrong. Not necessarily applauded if everything goes smooth.
Whoever you maybe, a CEO of a multinational company, who cares? You are a woman and be responsible to take care of your home! Not much of the women complain about doing the household stuffs. It is not a big thing. Naturally women are multi-taskers and can take up any job, complete it with at most effort. What woman ache for is recognition and appreciation at home. There are many people in the society to say that you do a great job but those doesn't stand close to the words that she gets from her family members. Doesn't the actual recognition from the direct stakeholders matter a lot?
Being a housewife is very tough thing. You will be blamed and criticized if something goes wrong. If your kid did not score well in her exam, you are answerable. But when she scores a high mark, no one ever will turn to you. This is how everything else are seen.
I would be surprised when my husband says 'Thank you for everything', I wave off and say 'I don't really understand why you have to be' but in reality I feel happy. All the pain that I have undergone will paid with such simple kind words. In general, guys please appreciate your mother, wife, sister or any woman you know.
Study says, stay-at-home women are more depressed when compared to working women as there is no way for them to drain the stress that they undergo. The missing sense of accomplishment takes a toll on most of the women. Especially first time mothers. Delivering a kid is painful, not just physically, also mentally. Every woman goes into depression after the postpartum. Here in India, we don't even know that there is such kind of postpartum depression. People tend to think that the new mom should supposedly be happy for delivering a baby which may partly be true.
Appreciate your woman! I bet she would sleep with smile. There maybe days when salt, sugar, pepper would be less or more in the food. So what? she may not be a great cook but she took an effort to cook for you. Appreciate! Listen to her. She may tell you silly stories which might bore you even but lend your ears for sometime it doesn't cost much. Those silly stories are her moments that she would cherish later. Keep telling her how valuable and important she is, that would make her run even more faster!
Women would never ever open her mouth and ask for appreciation. But the tinge of appreciation can do wonders to her.
Ladies! Its great to see you all working to please your fellow members. Once in a while take a break and cherish yourself. Live your life, you only have one!
Thank you for being an inspiration!!!
Priya 😉😊
