India's daughter - We don't deserve it

Yet another horrific incident and we are still being negligible about Women's safety. Naming the victim as 'India's daughter' only glorifies the crime committed. Many around us are telling how to safeguard ourselves in such situations, how to be careful, how not to engage men, how to dress, how to behave and how to give in and avoid death. SERIOUSLY? Stop preaching us what to do. Not a single politician really acknowledges the failure of safeguarding women and start thinking about addressing the issue in hand.

Do you think a 6 month old should be aware of the situation and dress appropriately to avoid being raped? Wearing a sleeveless or a Saree or even a bikini is not the problem. If less cloth provokes a man, then he is morally unstable. A woman is not provoked when she sees a guy in a trouser but why are you? Why are you men provoked on seeing a woman breastfeeding her child? Is it because you took it for granted that breasts are for your sexual pleasure? STUPIDITY!

How long are you people going to victim blame and make the life even worse just equivalent to what the rapists did? Instead of studying the victims, start studying the rapists. The insensible comments that I read everyday makes me to question all their IQ. Sitting behind a computer with a masked ID everyone are so judgmental that they say things even the victim didn't know about herself. All the forward men will turn into a protective cover and hashtag '#Hangrapists'. The same men would demoralize a woman when she comes out and register a #metoo. Height of hypocrisy!

Movies glorify that a man can stalk a woman and not accept her 'No' as an answer and persuade her to say Yes. Damn, no is a no. A woman has every right to say no to anyone. None of your monkey acts will make it an yes.

When are you going to teach these perverts some morals and educate them that women are not sex objects that they can use on the go and set them on fire when the pleasure ends.

There are people who are against death penalty for the rapists because they are minors. If a guy is mature enough to rape a girl to death then he deserves to be hanged till death. Men / Women who blame the victim for being in that unfortunate situation, assassinate her character and doubt her morals are no more than different from the rapists.

We are in a developing nation with progressive minds and everyone are talking about woman empowerment but the incidents happening around are telling us to stay indoors. Even home is not safe for a 10 year old, be it a boy or a girl. Not her own father could be trusted.

It's important to arrest and punish the rapists and it is equally important to identify the root cause. SEX is still seen as 'Ssshhh' word. We only talk such things in private. It's not an open topic to discuss. Until sex is wrapped tighter, these crimes cannot and will not stop. Start the discussion.

Let your child come to you and talk about sex. It's better if they know it through you instead of some porn sites that objectifies women.

If you child says that she is not comfortable talking / playing with that uncle or an auntie in the opposite house, let them not play. Talk to them and find out the reason. Have an open minded discussion. Most of the victims go into the shell without talking loud is simply because of the fear of being judged. Yes that's how supportive this society is! AND most of the accused are rapists because of the reason they weren't heard either.

Sadly we are in the era where even a genuine help in an untimely hour will be doubted. A genuine neighbor with clear thoughts will be restricted from playing / visiting our house to play with our kids. That's where we have led the society.

High time to ACT! No more India's daughters!

Yours,
A woman.
Safety is our birthright! Do not deny!
